Jamie Hane Hamer: Guitar, Keyboards, Vocals
Jamie Hane Hamer is the most mysterious of all Sly recording artists. His “Jamie's Song” appeared on our 1st two releases and then he was never heard from again. Word on the street is that he was part of an acoustic jam band called Hell Shit Fucker Mushrooms after his brief stint with Sly. That is a champion band name. Sly Records co-founder Matt Fargo remembers this:
“Jamie Hamer---------------------The thing I remember most about him was that his full name is Jamie Hane Hamer, one of the most pleasant names to say ever in the world. He actually recorded this song at my house on Norma Court, sitting cross-legged under my parents' piano. At the time he was really into this King Black Acid 45, I don't remember the name of it, but it was pretty psychedelic and slow but I was really into it too. Anyway Jamie lived just down the street at the time, in an apartment on Sunnyside by where Bi-Mart used to be. Matt Wildman and Mike Phillips lived there too, I think. They were really into mushrooms and trippy music. Jamie brought an armful of effect pedals over to my house, and we put down this track in a couple takes. My mom must have thought we were all stoned or something with him ooooohing and aaaaahhhing into the mic with the delay pedal on. I think we were cold sober though.”
